Memorial Wall

This is a previously unpublished photo.

In March, 2010 Horst went to visit a 3/4 scale replica of the Vietnam War Memorial Wall. It’s known as the Dignity Vietnam Memorial Wall and is toured all over North America by Service Corporation International. I remember him showing me this photo on his computer, and I was taken aback at how moving the image is. He was very proud of this image.

When I was in high school in the 1970’s, I wore a POW bracelet in support of our servicemen and women missing or held captive during the Vietnam War. I never heard what happened to “my” serviceman, and after the war ended, I put the bracelet away. Some years later, I visited Washington, DC, and found the young Captain’s name on the wall. This brings back that powerful and deep emotion I felt then.

An excellent example of his work, this image will always be a reminder of the great loss of seeing more of his work!
    I miss him so much!
